Prayer and praise points for 21 July 2007

- that I would be caught up on all my admin before I leave to the States on the 31st for holiday
* praise for the gracious gift of a plane ticket home! Thank you to my generous friends in Newcastle!
- pray for my brother and his fiance as they prepare for marriage in August. Pray God would guide them in the future and He would continue to keep the the fire in their hearts for the nations burning bright as they adjust to marriage and finish university
* thank God for the rain that keeps Britain so beautifully green :)
- pray for the support raising I need to do, pray for people to keep their commitments who have dropped off the team at some point this year. Pray for a few new financial partners.
- pray for a girl I was able to pray with this week who asked Jesus to come into her life and be in charge and pay for her sin. Pray God would be rooting her in her faith and growing her as we look at assurance of salvation and other foundational truths together.
*praise God for the biblical training I get to return to at the end of August on Romans. Pray I would be teachable and grow in my relationship with Jesus through this.
- pray for Becky and Sara and Sarah as they raise support to join our team and the Oxford team this coming year that God would provide the prayer and financial partners they need to serve in the upcoming year of ministry.

Summer

It has been a few months since I have posted mostly because I forgot my password to this account! Whoops! It has been found again, so hopefully I will be able to post a bit more. My most recent prayer letter should be out to you soon. Summer project was incredible. You can hear about what we did and where we went in there. Seeing God provide answers to prayer on a day to day basis was what I was challenged by most.

It was also a joy to see two people become Christians!

Afterwards we went to the global missions conference in S. Korea. You can see and learn more about that at cm2007.net It was a challenging and encourging time for both staff and students. Again, I will tell you more in the prayer letter due out this weekend. :)

Right now I have a few weeks before I have holiday and time to go see my younger brother get married. These few weeks will be spent working on ministry prep and materials for next year, studying Romans (including outlines and Bible study prep) for our staff conference at the end of August, some outreach events that I am brainstorming for, a bit of support raising (due to some lost supporters and the ever increasing exchange rate), my personal new staff training development materials, and hopefully connecting with quite a few supporters on the phone and catching up on prayer requests and life.. It should be a different pace to my normal job, but good.

Prayer points:
- for good application on what God has been teaching me and the students this summer
- that God would give us vision for how He would have us trust Him by faith next year
- that I would be a learner in what Jesus has to teach me this summer through all of my studies and prep
- that the learning would change my heart and my character and make me more like Jesus
- That the Lord would bring in the needed support and new support partners to continue in this ministry
- That I would continue to have and look for opportunities to share the gospel even while students are away.
- For thousands to become Christians this coming university year in Newcastle

Easter Holiday..

I got a week off for easter and went over to Northern Ireland with a couple girls. In an impulse one day, I ran into a salon that had offers of cheap haircuts because it was a training salon. Michael, a guy around 18 cut my hair. Although he grew up in a church-going family, he didn't understand that the Christian message and a relationship with Jesus had any impact on his day to day life. As he cut my hair, we talked about Jesus and how he could learn about him and how he could read the bible. Pray for Michael that he would see the gospel as real and as something that matters. Pray that he would see Christianity as a real relationship with the God that created him and not as a dead religion that belongs to his grandmother and not him.

This week we go to our staff bible conference and on the "Doctrine of Salvation" Pray for me that all of the Wayne Grudem, Systematic Theology would sink into my head !

New Staff Support Weekend..

This weekend I got a chance to go with a carful of new staff with down to Nottingham to help be a support coach. A carful of people, from the northeast and a couple more meeting us down there. It was a joy to help them process their possible placements around the country and overseas. Pray for Sarah, Sarah, Becky, Jenny, Sara, Lynda, Stephen and Ben as they await their placements and raise up support teams to pray for them, encourage them in their ministry ahead in England, the middle east and Russia, and partner with them financially.

Pray that wherever they are placed, they would trust God and take a step of faith, into the unknown for some of them who will be placed in other cities. Pray the team processing their placements would hear wisdom from the Lord on the best team situations for each person.

A bit of catch up

My prayer letter should be arriving in your inboxes this afternoon and your snail mail boxes in a couple days :) I have finally managed to get on top of admin a bit as the students have all left to the (long) easter holidays this past Friday. Admin week is my least favourite activity, but a very necessary one since my loathing of admin actually makes weeks like this necessary because when students are here, obviously, I will spare every spare second with them! :) haha.
You can be praying the 321 pages of Grudem's Systematic Theology will be sinking into my head before our staff conference on "Soteriology, ie. the Doctrine of Salvation," that I will get properly caught up on all my admin this week including summer project prep training for K*, support raised for summer project, and all the odd jobs I have been putting off that need done this week. Next week I am on a bit of a week holiday myself with a couple friends to see Northern Ireland before we come back to staff conference the following week. Thank you for your prayers and support, you are a blessing to my ministry here in the Northeast of England!
*for security, I will refer to our summer location as the generic "K" whilst on the internet, I'd appreciate if you kept your posting this place anonymous as well.

Dear friends, partners, prayer warriors,
Sorry it has been such awhile since I have posted. I have not done such a great job staying on top of my communication the past couple of months, but some exciting things have happened.
A "window" into the ministry in Newcastle as of late.
* Three students as of late have become Christians.. and their main contacts and sources for hearing the gospel have been other students! This is exciting in terms of seeing students own the idea of spiritual multiplication and that they are learning to share their faith and they are investing in a next generation of new Christians! Pray for Helen, Laura, and Caroline to become established in their faith and for them to get plugged into local churches well, and for us to shepherd the students well who will be helping to disciple these new Christians.
* I participated in several mission weeks at the different universities I work at. They were successful and allowed for many people to hear the gospel.
*Pray for more students to join followup courses like Connect, or Christianity Explored.
* My prayer letter should be at your doors in the next week. Hopefully that will give you a more thorough picture of what is going on!
Thank you for your prayers and support! I will try to post more frequently once again.
